In Sunburst Squared class
The pattern is now written and polished. Download the pdf here. Enjoy! For those who wish to attend the class: 1. Email me at tigris@catlover.com to let me know you're coming. Space is limited at the FFAA studio. 2. Download the pattern. Read at least the first three pages. Read or skim the rest to familiarize yourself with the process and required materials. 3. Choose your fabric and have your strip sets sewn and pressed to bring to class. You may also wish to have the registration lines drawn in advance. 4. Either print a copy of the pattern or load it into a tablet or ipad to bring to class. 5. Have your ruler's lines marked. Do it yourself, bring it to the guild meeting for assistance, or come to class a little early. Further instructions may be sent by email to those who have signed up.

In Sunburst Squared class
Sunburst Squared: Making square blocks with a 15 degree wedge ruler. Place: FFAA Studio 10554-110 St NW Edmonton Time: 10 am to 4 pm, Saturday, April 6, 2024 Cost: $10 per student payable on day of class Sign up: email Shalene at tigris@catlover.com Although this class will be in-person only, all EMQG members are welcome to use the pattern. If you have questions or would like assistance email me at the address above. In addition to the usual quilt-making supplies, participants will require a 15 degree wedge ruler for this project. The wedge ruler with the lines and registration holes specific to this square project type may be purchased from Lauri Remin of Sew Clever sewclever4you@gmail.com if you did not already purchase it for our previous class. Due to the limitations of marking custom cut rulers you will need to make the relevant lines more visible. This pdf illustrates which lines need to be highlighted. The best method I found was to place masking tape on either side of the line leaving a very narrow space and applying brightly coloured nail polish to the gap. After allowing it to dry, the tape can be removed and another of the lines can be taped and marked. There are 3 straight lines and one line with a 90 degree angle in the middle to mark this way. It would be appreciated if this could be completed prior to class but if you are not confident doing this yourself bring your ruler (and nail polish if you have a preferred colour) to the guild meeting April 2nd or arrive a bit early to the class on April 6th. The pattern will be available for download here soon.

In The Name Game
For the remainder of your name tag what do you want to say and how do you want to say it? Are you an appliquist? An embroiderer? A collector of beads and buttons and bits? How will you finish your name tag? Do you want to do a binding or are you more inclined to pillowcase it? How will you give it the body and stiffness so it doesn’t flop all over? How will you wear it? Are you a lanyard person or a pin-it-on person? Do what makes you happy and tell us who you are!

In The Name Game
Making a name-tag is an opportunity to play. Do you want to try a new technique or show off the hard earned skills you already have? Challenge yourself! If your first attempt fails to satisfy, try something else! First thought is functional. How will you make your name? Remember that no one wants to have to sneak closer and closer to you at a meeting while trying not to make it obvious they are staring at your chest! Do you have lovely legible handwriting to use a permanent marker on fabric big and bold and beautiful? Can you find a font you like and print it out nice and big to trace it onto fabric with a light box? Will you embroider it? Paint it? Stamp it? Stencil it? Appliqué it?
